SIMATECH CONTAINER TERMINAL IN MOGADISHU OPENED

Simatech International Container Terminal (SICT) is officially opened by His Excellency the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud on Sunday 19th June 2016 along with other Federal and State ministers, member of Parliaments, local business and shipping fraternity.

As part of the Company’s ongoing commitment to improve and facilitate containerization and Logistics at port of Mogadishu, Simatech has launched SICT (Simatech International Container Terminal) which is a green field project built under the agreement of Government of Federal Republic of Somalia to meet the growing demand of trade in order to provide efficient container and logistics services to local & International shipping community. Scope of the agreement covers handling of full import and export containers to / from port of Mogadishu, empty containers storage and any additional services required for reefer and dry container cargoes. This project includes developing a Logistics Centre comprising of warehouse to store general cargoes from sea and air freight and cold store for perishable cargoes to develop and improve exports of Somali fruit, fish and meat to various parts of the world.

Simatech is the first company to commence container service from Somalia in January 2013 linking Jebel Ali port of UAE to Mogadishu after more than twenty two years of service suspension by international shipping companies. Simatech also provided terminal operations and agency support.
